Move over, chicken alfredo! There’s a new favorite: my easy creamy shrimp pasta!
If there’s one dish I could eat every day, it would be pasta! Like many of you, I love a quick and easy pasta dish packed with flavor. The best pasta is creamy, well-balanced between sauce and noodles, and full of taste. It’s even better when it’s cheesy!
My easy creamy shrimp pasta takes just about thirty minutes to make, making it a perfect weeknight meal. I often whip this up when I need a simple dinner idea. Even my husband, who isn’t a huge pasta fan, loves this dish. You only need a few main ingredients to make it:
Ingredients:
- Olive oil
- Butter
- Onions
- Crushed tomatoes
- Heavy cream
- Shrimp
- Linguine
- Parmesan cheese
- Sour cream
- Seasoning: salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and seafood seasoning
Tips for Making Easy Creamy Shrimp Pasta:
- Don’t overcook the shrimp! Sauté the shrimp for just 2-3 minutes. They cook quickly, and you’ll know they’re done when they turn from translucent to opaque.
- Use long noodles. I recommend linguine, fettuccine, or spaghetti. I think the sauce pairs better with longer noodles, but you can choose what you like.
- Don’t skip the sour cream! It makes the sauce incredibly smooth. Trust me; you’ll be surprised by how creamy it turns out!

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 lb small to medium shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails removed)
- 8 oz linguine, cooked according to package instructions
- 1/3 cup crushed tomatoes
- 1 small white onion, finely diced
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- Seasoning for shrimp:
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp seafood seasoning (like Old Bay)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions.
- Season the shrimp with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and seafood seasoning.
- In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the shrimp for 2-3 minutes until they are opaque. Remove them from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the onion and sauté for 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the crushed tomatoes and sauté for 1 minute.
- Next, add butter and heavy cream, stirring until well mixed.
- Blend the sauce until smooth and then return it to the skillet (I use an immersion blender for this).
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese and sour cream, and let the sauce simmer for another minute.
- Add the pasta and shrimp to the sauce, mixing well.
- Serve with extra Parmesan cheese and enjoy!
Notes:
You can skip blending the sauce if you prefer. I like to blend it to ensure the crushed tomatoes are fully dissolved for a smooth sauce!
