Easy Oven Baked Ribs

Easy Oven Baked Ribs

You don’t need a grill to make the best ribs! All you need is your oven and my special seasoning mix. Just sit back and let the oven do the work.

I love ribs, and I often make them when the weather warms up. The other day, I grabbed a pack of pork ribs from ALDI—great value! I used half of the pack and saved the rest for later, so I can easily make more ribs without another trip to the store.

The secret to fall-off-the-bone ribs is cooking them low and slow in the oven. This way, they turn out buttery and tender. If you like ribs with a bit of chew, you can shorten the cooking time. But if you’re like me and love the ribs where the bone slides out easily, this recipe is perfect for you.

Let’s get started with my easy oven baked ribs recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs pork ribs (bone-in)
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Kosher salt (to taste)
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • Your favorite BBQ sauce (I recommend Sweet Baby Rays)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 275°F.
  2. Prepare the Ribs: Clean the ribs and pat them dry. Use a knife to remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and discard it.
  3. Season the Ribs: Rub a thin layer of mustard on both sides of the ribs. Mix the seasonings with the liquid smoke and sprinkle the blend over the ribs. Press the seasoning into the meat so it sticks.
  4. Cook: Wrap the ribs tightly in foil so no steam escapes. Place them on a baking tray and cook for 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on the thickness. After 2.5 hours, check for tenderness.
  5. Add BBQ Sauce: Once the ribs are tender, brush on your BBQ sauce. Raise the oven temperature to 400°F and cook the ribs uncovered for another 15-30 minutes to give the sauce a nice char.
  6. Cool and Serve: Let the ribs cool for about 10 minutes, then serve.

Notes:

  • You can substitute beef ribs if you don’t eat pork.
